Photos of the BEST DOG

This is a little different than my past two blogs.  It is important to remember that after a days work, that when you come home, there is someone always waiting! Even if its a spouse, roommate, children, or simply a pet! This post is especially special to a dog we lost not too long ago. We sure do miss our Bruno!! It has been a little over a year since he has passed! Thinking of you today BRU!! We love you!!!

Practicing Safe Social Networking

My mom once told me that once you post something on the Internet, it is free reign to everyone else and its hard to take it off.  This is why it is important to keep in mind some important safety rules about blogging.  In my last post I mentioned technology was like a swimming pool on a hot summer day, and we are all ready to jump in! But just like it is important that we learn how to swim to stay safe in the water, it is also important to learn how to stay safe in the waters of the Internet. Here are some important guidelines for being a safe blogger:

1. Privacy-It is important to check your settings and set the privacy.  It is important to only allow those who you know to comment or even few your blog.  Keep your password to yourself and don't allow anyone to use it. Remember to not share too much personal information on the site.

2.  Photos-It is only natural wanting to share photos with others online, but it is important to think about the type of picture and the kind of attention it might attract. Be aware that photos can be easily copied, changed and used elsewhere, and can potentially stay online forever.

3.  Postings-Remember to "think before you post." You never know who may come across your profile or blog.  Potential employers, teachers, parents may stumble across you postings and if there is something on there that you would not normally say around your mother, well.....then you probably shouldn't be saying it.

These guidelines are floaties in our big swimming pool of technology: the will help us stay afloat!

Blog Pedagogy

When I think about blogs and blogging, the first thought that comes to my mind is, "The world is at my finger tips."Technology is like a swimming pool on a scorching hot summer day, and people can't wait to jump in! Not only has technology become a way of life, but the creativity that the people bring to it. Blogging is such that. You can pretty much find a blog on anything.  What is very interesting to me, is that learning and educating is so different now.  Teachers can use blogs to teach their students history.  If I wanted to learn more about the 9/11 memorial and how it was constructed, I could find a blog that walks me through the process.  You can also find a blog that is directly dedicated to educating about health. We have all learned about the 7 wonders of the world: The Great Pyramid, The Great Wall of China, The Colosseum, to name a few.  But what about other wonders of the world that have not been visited? Well, you guessed it, there are travel blogs too ( Men out there can view such blogs to find sultry places to take their better halves!)  In my mind, blogging is a way of life now.  We all have our own opinions and ideas and we are just craving to share them.  People... its hot day....and pool full water.....JUMP IN!
